Leslie Pladson Frie
Leslie Pladson is an Occupational Therapist at TNT Kid’s Fitness and Gymnastics. She received her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies as well as a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Prior to her career at TNT, Leslie worked as an occupational therapist at Pediatric Therapy Partners.
Leslie has been involved in the sport of gymnastics for over 20 years as a gymnast, coach, and a judge. She competed for Texas Woman’s University for four years, and was co-captain of the team her senior year. She was the Graduate Assistant Coach for one year while finishing Graduate School.
Leslie’s passion for children with special needs developed as she came home from college each summer and worked at TNT as a coach. As she helped with the special needs program and learned more about it, the passion grew. While finishing her undergraduate degree she was able to aide in a doctoral dissertation that validated her decision to become an Occupational Therapist. She was also able to volunteer for AAMP Camp, a camp for children with Autism, that Pediatric Therapy Partners put on.
Leslie has been a part of an Autism/Behavioral Team, co-led a Social Skills Group, given presentations on behavioral interventions to community members, and has had training and experience in sensory integration, Autism Spectrum Disorders, behavioral interventions, self-regulation dysfunction, and developmental delays.
Leslie loves the sport of gymnastics and has seen the value of a gymnastics facility in terms of occupational therapy. Through the use of gymnastics activities and equipment, Leslie believes that a child’s sensory experiences, fine motor skills, motor planning, visual system, self-regulation, cognition, strength, and coordination will all improve. Leslie believes the motivating and challenging environment that TNT’s gymnastics facility provides creates opportunities for a child to learn and develop skills in a fun and creative manner. Leslie is excited to be a part of TNT Kid’s Fitness and Gymnastics, its mission, and to help give children the tools for success to build independence, confidence, and the ability to function in other environments.
